    He bought the manor of Allexton, Leicestershire, about 1652 (soon after his marriage), and that of Belton, in Rutland, shortly after 1672.

    Hereditary Title:
    Verney having claimed, 21 November 1694, the Barony of Broke, afterwards amended to that of Willoughby de Broke, as lineal heir to the person so summoned in 1491, the House of Lords decided at first, 10 January 1694/95, against the claim; but a year later, 13 February 1695/96, allowed his claim to the latter title.

    He received his writ, as Lord Willoughby de Broke, 25 February 1695/96, taking his seat, 27 February, as a Peer by descent, without ceremony, in the ancient seat or place of his ancestor, Sir Robert Willoughby, next above the Lord Eure.
